Employment verification affidavit
Labour & UIF
First check what the requester needs. A Public Service lookup can show the department linked to an active employment record for covered employees. Tender examples use named affidavit templates and their own evidence rules. Choose the route that matches your request, then follow the instructions for that check or tender.

How to use it
- Enter your details Enter your South African Identity Number and click on the Verify button.
- Read the department result For someone employed in the Public Service (excluding the State Security Agency), the lookup provides the name of the department where the person is employed.
- Ask the department for more detail If you need further employment verification, contact the specific department directly to obtain more detailed information and for further verification of employment.
Document checklist
- Find the requested returnable One tender example names Annexure A: Affidavit Confirming Employment of Resource. Another names Annexure A-1: Affidavit Confirming Employment of Resource by Company Director. Check which returnable your tender pack requests.
- Use the tender’s own template One tender limits evidence to templates in its published annexures. Another says changes to its published templates invalidate the evidence. Follow the pack for your tender.
- Compare the employee details For the director affidavit example, include the employee’s ID copy. Check that the full name and ID number on it match the affidavit exactly. If the copy is missing or the details differ, the affidavit Annexure A – 1 will not be accepted as valid evidence.
- Check the copy requirements One tender requires certified, legible copies of training certificates and affidavits. The copies must be certified by a Commissioner of Oaths clearly legible and certified not more than three months prior to the date of tender close. Check that the Commissioner’s details, signature and date are visible.
- Confirm the employment period For one tender, resources submitted as evidence must meet this condition: all resources presented as evidence must be employed at the tendering company during the tender period.

Who can make the declaration if the employee is absent?
For the tender case described, when the employee is absent and cannot make the declaration before a Commissioner of Oaths, company director will be allowed to make the declarations in front of the Commissioner of Oaths required to confirm employment.
