How to use it

Check an unlisted document Look for taxpayer’s name/initials and surname and physical address and not postal address. For age, follow this rule: not older than 3 months or 1 year if issued once in a year/6 months if issued twice in a year.

What if a lease has lapsed?

If the lease agreement has lapsed and the addendum states that the renting period is on a month to month basis, the lease agreement must be accepted.

Can a student use an educational institution letter for any request?

The supported use here is for SARS proof of residential or business address. The letter must confirm the student’s physical address.

If I use a Councillor for remote-area proof, which Councillor should I ask?

Ask your own Ward Councillor. A Councillor from another ward in the same town or city does not meet the SARS requirement.

Does a local representative need to provide their own ID for a third-party remote-area request?

For the SARS remote-area route for businesses without municipal accounts, the Chief, Councillor or Farmer need not provide their own proof of residence or ID for a third-party letter or confirmation.
