How to use it

  1. Choose a vehicle identifier Check the vehicle’s certificate of registration. Its licence number, VIN or chassis number, or register number can identify it. Give the vehicle particulars when you request the RPC form.
  2. Explain why you need clearance Tell the MVR office why the vehicle needs clearance. The reason forms part of the information needed to obtain the RPC form.
  3. Request the RPC form Take the vehicle particulars and acceptable identification to an MVR office. In the municipal process described here, the office prints the RPC form from eNaTIS.
  4. Go to the Police Clearance Centre Once you have the form, take it and the vehicle to the Police Clearance Centre with your South African Identity Document. The centre uses the form to verify the vehicle record.
  5. If the vehicle was built up from parts For this registration route, the provincial helpdesk first introduces the vehicle record on eNaTIS. Then submit the request for police clearance using form RPC. A roadworthy test must also be performed on the vehicle.
  6. If the vehicle was modified The vehicle registration guidance includes a request for police clearance using form RPC for a modified vehicle. Check with the relevant MVR office about the steps for your registration route.
